Glow-in-the-Dark Capture the Flag

Reindeer Dash 5K Run

December 16, 9am
Pecos Legacy Park, 150 N. Pecos Rd.
Make a dash to Pittman Wash Trail for a jolly good time. Wear your most cheerful costumes or ugly holiday sweaters. Souvenir T-shirts are guaranteed for the first 300 participants. All fitness levels are welcome. Register at any recreation center or online at cityofhenderson.com/register or Active.com.  Packet pickup is at Silver Springs Recreation Center from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Dec.14 or at Pecos Legacy Park from 8:00-9:00 a.m. the day of the event. Candy Cane Festival

December 16, Noon-3pm Heritage Park Aquatic Complex, 310 S. Racetrack Rd.

Celebrate the magic of winter with us. Festivities include games, bounce house, treats and our famous underwater candy cane hunt. Children can also get ready for the holidays by writing and mailing a letter to Santa. Register using activity code 436000-02 or in person at any recreation center/indoor pool. $5 per person, all ages. Or bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to our toy drive and admission is free.

Whitney Wonderland

Join Santa and his helpers for a holiday wonderland including continental breakfast with all of the trimmings. Participate in games and crafts with Santa’s elves at their workstations, listen to Santa’s elves as they read a story, and bring your camera to take a picture with Santa. Candy Cane Kids Holiday Celebration

Holiday Tree Recycling

December 26-January 18
Bring your fresh tree (no artificial or flocked trees) to one of the following locations for free recycling. Be sure to remove all ornaments, tinsel and wires first. Free mulch will be available at Pecos Legacy Park and Acacia Demonstration Gardens. Bring your own shovel and container.

Youth Baseball/Softball League

Our baseball and softball program provides an engaging team sports experience. Players develop
a variety of skills, including hitting, catching, base running, pitching, and sportsmanship. The level of
skill development increases throughout the program, but provides a solid foundation and welcoming
atmosphere for new players in every age division. Register Dec 26-Feb. 21 at any recreation center or online. Ages 5-18

New Year’s Eve Midnight Hike

Anthem East Trailhead at Anthem Hills Park, 2256 N. Reunion Dr.
Join us for a midnight hike on the McCullough Hills Trail on New Year’s Eve. The hike takes us to an amazing viewpoint where almost the entire valley can be seen. From there we can take in the night’s fireworks and festivities all while discovering a great way to get and stay in shape. Bring plenty of water; wear weather appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes. No pets. Youth ages 5-17 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Register using activity code 151186-58. Ages 5+, $14

Jump for Fun

Winter Hiking Series - Whitney Mesa upper trail (2.5 miles)

Healthy Henderson Fair

Our Healthy Henderson Fair features more than 25 health and wellness vendors, children’s activities, bounce houses, class and fitness demonstrations, open rock wall climbing, blood donation truck, and lunch options available for purchase. We’ll also be kicking off our Lighten Up Henderson 90-Day Weight-Loss Challenge with a discounted registration ($5 off) available only at this event. All ages, Free

Lighten Up Henderson 90-Day Weight Loss Challenge

Our seventh annual weight-loss challenge is for anyone (ages 13+) who lives, learns, works, or plays in Henderson. The 12-week challenge supports efforts to lose weight and get fit and sets a course for a healthy lifestyle. The individual in each of four age categories with the highest percentage of body weight lost wins a 1-month fitness room membership and a Nutri Ninja Pro blender. Age categories include: 13-18 yrs.; 18-49 yrs., 50-64 yrs., and 65+ yrs. Enroll and weigh in (see dates/locations below) to receive a three-month fitness room membership, one personal training session, three pool passes, and one entry into the Rover Run 5k at Cornerstone Park or Cupid Run at Whitney Mesa Recreation Area. Registration is $65 (available Jan. 15-21). Save $5 when you register at the Healthy Henderson Fair on Jan. 13.

It’s a Zoo in Here! Camel Adventures

Jason Pasco/Leslie Leveque/Miken Sports Classic

Men’s – January 19-20
Co-Rec – January 21
This is the annual kickoff softball tournament for the Henderson area for which teams travel from around the region to participate. The tournament features men’s and co-rec divisions of play, with first, second and third place awards presented in each division. Bats are provided by Miken. Games are played at Arroyo Grande Sports Complex and Russell Road Recreation Complex. Register December 11-January 11 by calling the Sports Office at 702-267-5717. $225 per team

Heartbreak Pickleball Classic

February 1 & 2
Downtown Recreation Center, 105 W. Basic Rd.
The third annual Heartbreak Pickleball Classic features round robin play with divisions based on skill and age to give all opponents a chance to participate in competitive matches. USAPA rules apply, but this is a non-sanctioned recreational tournament. Tournament play begins at 9:00 a.m. and runs until mid-afternoon, dependent upon registration. The tournament is held indoors at Downtown Recreation Center. Register December 19-January 27. $10 per event, per player
